Drug & Alcohol Support

We support people of all ages in Rotherham with drug and alcohol concerns, addiction, recovery, and specialist chemsex support.

This service runs differently in each area - choose your local area below for details:

Lucy, our Drug & Alcohol Worker provides specialist support for individuals experiencing addiction, problematic substance use, or lower-level drug and alcohol concerns. They work within a safe, confidential, non-judgemental and harm reduction approach, supporting people to improve their health and wellbeing while accessing the services they need.

The role acts as a bridge between sexual health and drug and alcohol services, ensuring individuals receive holistic, person-centred care.

Support available includes:

  • One-to-one drug and alcohol support for people of all ages, and all addictions.
  • Outreach and home-visits
  • Chemsex assessments, education and ongoing support
  • LGBTQ+ inclusive drug and alcohol support
  • Harm reduction advice and safer using information
  • Distribution of chemsex packs and harm reduction equipment
  • Blood-borne virus (BBV) testing, including HIV and hepatitis testing, alongside STI screening, pregnancy testing
  • Overdose prevention
  • Group work, workshops and educational sessions
  • Training for professionals on Chemsex, substance use and harm reduction
  • Brief interventions for individuals wanting to reduce or better understand their drug or alcohol use
  • Referrals and signposting to specialist treatment, recovery and community services
  • Recovery planning and relapse prevention support
  • Education on the links between substance use, sexual health and mental wellbeing
  • Partnership working with sexual health, mental health and other agencies to provide coordinated support
