In summary
For PrEP Awareness Week, MESMAC launches a project creating short videos that explain PrEP and how to access it on the NHS in a range of languages spoken across local communities.
Everyone deserves the ability to access to accurate, engaging sexual health information. This PrEP Awareness Week, Yorkshire MESMAC is excited to announce the launch of a new project providing basic PrEP information in a range of languages spoken within our local communities!
PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a medication which can prevent HIV infection. It's one of the latest and most effective tools we have to prevent HIV - but it can be difficult to access information about how to access it through the NHS in languages other than English. This week, we are launching a longterm project which will see us create short videos educating on the basics of PrEP in a range of languages spoken across Yorkshire's communities.
Check out our website and social media later in the week to see videos published in English and Arabic. Other languages we plan to include in the campaign in the coming weeks and months include French, Tigrinya and Slovenian.
If you're a fluent speaker of one of these languages, or a different language, and you're interested in volunteering some time for the campaign - get in touch! You can send us an email at digital@mesmac.co.uk or message us on any of our social media platforms.
