Leeds has been designated a "Fast-Track City," a global initiative committed to ending HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), and viral hepatitis epidemics by 2030. The Leeds Fast-Track Cities Community Grants Programme is a joint initiative between Leeds City Council and Yorkshire MESMAC, launched in February 2024.
These grants are designed to empower local communities to tackle stigma and discrimination related to these conditions, centring the experiences of and amplifying the voices and stories of those with lived experience.

Micro-grants of up to £1,500 per project
Who can apply
- Individuals and community groups based in Leeds
- People with lived experience of HIV, TB, Hepatitis B or C
- Members of at-risk populations
Purpose
To support creative, community-driven projects that explore lived experiences and that challenge stigma and discrimination in affected communities.

Administered collaboratively by Leeds City Council and MESMAC
Assessment process
Applications will be reviewed by an assessment panel of three members from the Fast-Track Cities team, ensuring community-focused and fair decision-making.
This grants programme reflects Leeds’ ongoing dedication to inclusive public health strategies. By investing in community voices, we aim to create a healthier, more supportive, and stigma-free city for everyone.
