Leeds City Council, BHA and MESMAC are working in partnership to oversee a Fast Track Cities community grants programme of around £18,000. This will be used to award micro grants to community groups with or at risk of HIV, TB, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C. This programme uses historical funds from the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
MESMAC and the BHA are awarding micro grants of up to £700 to groups in the Leeds area to express their experiences of stigma and discrimination, and its impacts on people living with HIV, TB, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C or the effects it has on at-risk groups.
We want to hear your ideas; stories and we want you to take the lead in starting the conversation around stigma. Storytelling and conversations at community levels take many forms. Your ideas could be art, radio, a blog, creative writing, a community project, or something we have not thought of yet. Stigma can only end with honest, real conversation and stories that stem from our communities and rise to the people who have the power to influence change. It starts with your experiences, stories, creativity, and power to make the change.
If successful, the teams at BHA and MESMAC will support you or your group with your project, whether you are experienced in what you have chosen to complete or are trying something new for the first time.
