What is sexual health testing?
At MESMAC Leeds, we offer testing for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV and Syphilis. These are all sexually transmitted diseases. You should get tested after every new sexual partner.
What do I have to do for a test?
Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea: For this test, it will either be a self-swab or a urine sample test which you will do yourself in one of our bathrooms. You will get your results by text within 2 weeks.
HIV & Syphilis: For this test, it is a small finger prick blood test (no big needles!). A member of staff will take a small amount of blood from the end of your finger, and you will get the results during the appointment.
How long will an appointment last?
A full sexual health screening will only take about 20 minutes. If you need to chat about anything, the appointment may be longer.
What do I do if I get a positive result?
Our team are here to support you no matter what results come back. Chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis are usually curable with antibiotics. Chlamydia is the most common STI in Leeds and is easily treatable.
Is it confidential?
MESMAC is a confidential service. Your chlamydia and gonorrhoea sample will go up to the hospital to the labs to get your results, but no information goes on your medical record of this.
Who will i see at the appointment
At our Leeds office, your appointment will be with either Kemi, Jethro or Kate.
