Yorkshire MESMAC is one of the oldest and largest sexual health organisations in the country. Our historical focus is HIV prevention and sexual health promotion with Gay, Bisexual and men who have sex with men. Additionally our Community Development approach means that we are concerned with the wider Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGB&T) health, social and equity agendas. We work with LGB&T communities to tackle underlying causes of physical and mental ill health and to challenge those structures and systems that seek to exclude us from decision making.
We are proud of our strong roots in West and North Yorkshire with bases in Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and York; and of our contribution to the sector nationally and internationally through research, skill sharing, partnership work and policy development.
Yorkshire MESMAC is part of a group of services that include The BLAST! Project that works with young men and boys involved in or at risk of becoming involved in, sexual exploitation; and the OUR & Begin projects, social support agencies for people living with HIV, their families, friends and carers together with a number of LGB&T youth groups from across the Yorkshire region.
Yorkshire MESMAC is a non-statutory organisation that is funded through a range of sources including service level agreements with Primary Care Trusts, Local Authorities and Charitable Trusts as well as community fundraising and individual donations. We are a Registered Charity No 1040407 and a Limited Company No 2958336. You can view our latest audited accounts for the financial year 2011-12 by clicking here.
We hope you enjoy your stay with us and find our site informative and enjoyable. All of Yorkshire MESMAC's activities around the North can be found within these pages, as well as statistics, resources and surveys for the professional health worker.
