Training
The Our Project is a Bradford based community service working with people living with HIV. The focus of the project is to offer a quality service to all people living with HIV or AIDS in the Bradford Metropolitan District.
We aim to:
- Provide support to anyone directly infected or affected with HIV or AIDS
- Ensure that people living with HIV or AIDS receive services that are fast, flexible and fair.
- Provide quality training to groups and individuals in order to increase their knowledge and skills in relation to HIV or AIDS.
- Develop through training, services that are acceptable, appropriate and accessible to people living with HIV or AIDS.
The Our Project is funded by Bradford Social Services.
What is covered within Training?
Bespoke training, tailored to each organisation
If training is requested by an organisation, the Our Project staff member will agree with the person making the request what topics in relation to HIV will be covered. The training agreement might contain specific issues like, confidentiality, basic biology and transmission, experiences of living with HIV, attitudes about people living with HIV etc.[top]
Can you provide training to staff teams?
Yes, we can provide training to staff teams. This can be arranged by agreeing what you would like us to cover within the training and by agreeing a date. Requests for training will require some flexibility as workers within the Our Project also have the needs of service users to consider.
The cost of staff team training is £120 for a maximum half day training session or £200 for a full day. At this rate you will need to provide a suitable training environment. If your organisation does not have a room suitable to deliver training in or have access to a training room elsewhere, we can book rooms at suitable venues or our accessible building, depending on numbers.
Previously, some organisations have linked with other organisations in order to share the cost and increase the variety of experiences that can be shared on the day. The maximum number of participants on any of our courses is twenty.
We are sometimes able to offer free training courses to voluntary groups or as an introductory training session.
Evaluation of previous courses has been excellent, highlighting that content, approach and facilitation has enabled the outcomes of the course to be fully met by participants. The courses delivered by staff at the Our Project are designed to be interactive.
We can also offer the input of a speaker from the Positive Speaker Project, a joint training venture between the Our project and Begin (a support project in Wakefield) that enables people living with HIV to be involved in training.
