The OUR Project Fashion Show 2011

19th November - Hilton Hotel Bradford

After being inspired by seeing a Fashion Show, the OUR Project decided to organise one of their own to commemorate 30 years of World AIDS Day. It was on the 19th November at the Hilton Hotel and was kindly funded by the Make a Difference Trust. The event was well attended and was a great success and a good night was had by all.

The theme of the show was 3 eras of fashion, the 80's, 90's and noughties plus a variety of acts set to entertain all guests late into the night. All the models makeup was done by MAC makeup who continually show their support to Stamp out Stigma around HIV related issues and all models hair was done by a volunteer from Mario's Hairdresser's. All the models looked amazing thanks to these very talented individuals who gave up their spare time to support us.

The night's event's comprised of monologues performed by volunteer actors called Danny and Yassa who reinacted what it was like in the 3 different eras being HIV positive. These proved to be very powerful acts as the crowd fell silent, mesmerised at what was being said.

80's, 90's and noughties fashion which was kindly donated by a local boutique was a massive success with an added show case of Asian designs. The show then consisted of a fantastic performance by Mark and Julie who did a set of songs that had everyone tapping their feet and singing along and Dame Shirley Bassey (Chris Yates) wowed the crowd with some classics..........

A finale was a traditional dance by Exposed which had everyone commenting on the talent and energy of these 2 young men.

But the highlight of the night has to go to the showcase of clothes that was designed and made by service users, these exceptional items had a lot of time and effort put into them and The OUR Project was extremely proud to be able to support such talent and commitment.

This show has set a precedent for years to come and would like to continue with the event year after year.

The OUR Project would like give a heartfelt thanks to all of those that were involved in making the day a proud moment for the OUR Project, volunteers who gave up their valuable time to such a successful event. Thank you to you all.....you know who you are :-)
